An ozone exceedance = .076 ppm or greater

Is our 2008-2010 Design Value meeting the ozone standard? Yes

The standard uses the ozone monitor with the highest Design Value.  The Design Value is the monitor with the highest ozone data (4th highest value), averaged over a rolling 3-year average.  Thus, our current ozone Design Value is the average of 2008's 4th high value + 2009's + 2010's 4th high (with no rounding)

North monitor:  (0.079 + 0.073 + 0.073) / 3 = 0.075 ppm

Does our 2007-2009 Design Value meet the ozone standard? YES

*2010 data is preliminary and subject to change as a result of the ODEQ/EPA verification process

Explaining the Ozone Standard Averages

·       EPA's National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for Ozone is 0.075 parts per million (ppm)

·       The Ozone Standard is calculated by averaging data over a three year time period. This average is taken from the fourth highest (8-hr average) at each monitor. A violation occurs when the 3-year average is greater than 0.075 ppm.

·      The monitor with the highest 3-year average defines an area’s ‘Design Value’.
