Bus Rides Will Be 50-cents on Ozone Alert! Days.

Thanks to Sunoco, bus rides will be reduced to 50-cents for passengers on Ozone Alert! Days in 2007. Budget cuts had threatened the program that has been in effect for a number of years, but Sunoco made a donation so the program can continue. MTTA officials say Tulsans DO take the bus on Ozone Alert! Days, with ridership increasing significantly when an Ozone Alert is called. Click Here to plan your route.

Tulsa's air quality is getting better, but on a few days between May 1st and Sept. 30th each year, the pollution from ozone increases to an unhealthy level. The Ozone Alert! Program is in its 17th year. When the weather conditions (usually hot, dry, and windless) are conducive to ozone buildup, officials with the state department of environmental quality call an Ozone Alert! Tulsans respond by voluntarily limiting activities that put pollution into the air... by riding the bus to work, carpooling, and grouping trips. Some companies allow their employees to telecommute or work flexible hours. It all adds up to cleaner, healthier air for the people who live in the Tulsa area.
